Hi there, my name is Dawne, owner and creator of Dotty Scotty Gifts and this is me pictured with the Dotty Team – AKA Harvey and Cooper – my beloved fur bairns who have quite their own following now!
I am mum to two gorgeous grown up boys, our two equally gorgeous fur baby Cocker Spaniels Harvey & Cooper and married to David (a very patient, understanding and supportive hubby). All my family have all been a fantastic support in encouraging me to start up my small craft business – Dotty Scotty, helping me out at craft fayres and to my wonderful hubby who set up this website for me in support of growing my wee craft business online (he is an absolute star!) I also work part time as an Office Manager for an international software company, so life can sometimes be very hectic, but I love it.
Dotty Scotty started when I attended sewing classes that my friend was running and became completely hooked! I started out making aprons, shopper bags, purses, gift bags, scarves and a Signature Dotty Scotty Dog Plush and adding kitchen textiles, jewellery pouches and toddler pinafores over the years. Initially I made all my gifts in various poly cotton tartan material and attended as many craft fayres as I could in my local area. Through these craft fayres, I made a lot of fellow crafting friends and contacts on the crafting circuit and for the next few years concentrated predominantly on these craft markets. I was very lucky to gain a lovely group of repeat customers who very kindly supported me in the beginning and continue to do so today and have definitely helped shape and grow Dotty Scotty – and although I do tell them, they don’t fully realise just how much their continued support means to me. So if reading this you guys – many, many thanks for everything – it goes beyond appreciation! Through them, a lot of my Dotty Scotty Gifts have homes abroad in France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand and Japan……. So you could say we’re international!!
I was also a member of the Ochil Craft Association for a few years. This is a highly respected local crafter association with a repeat monthly craft fayre in our local Howgate Shopping Centre, Falkirk. They also have a Ochil Craft Shop based in Grangemouth.
A few years ago I started experimenting with different materials & designs; and I now make my selection of gifts in Tartan, Wool Blend Tartan, Harris Tweed and also occasionally in woodland animal themes, floral and denim textiles – with my Mr and Mrs Dotty Scotty Dogs as my signature brand.
